Pop Up Concert
Great music in unexpected places is on the menu for all of our Pop-Up Concerts! Festival artists will be performing in your favorite spots around Downtown Ashland. Grab a coffee, a glass of wine, or a cider, and enjoy some laid-back tunes that pair perfectly with any summertime sip.
All pop-up concerts are free and open to everyone—perfect for a quick music break or a spontaneous hangout.

The Rain
Anchored by Shawn E. Okpebholo’s powerful Two Black Churches, this Friday night program—featuring baritone Sidney Outlaw and pianist Zachary Peterson—reflects on tragedy, resilience, and the enduring strength of the human spirit.

Talking Across the Water
Featuring Kevin Puts’s luminous Of All the Moons, this intimate Thursday night concert—performed by mezzo-soprano Naomi Brigell and pianist Alejandro Avila—invites listeners into a meditative world of distance, reflection, and quiet connection.

The Ugly Duckling
This fresh and heartfelt retelling of the classic tale The Ugly Duckling blends whimsy and emotion in a family-friendly performance featuring soprano Anika Kildegaard, bassist Stephen Cantarero, and pianist Eva Nikolaidou.
Head over to The Roost for an Ice Cream Social immediately following the performance.

Weather-Telling
Two powerhouse voices—baritone Sidney Outlaw and tenor Fran Laucerica—come together for an evening of vivid storytelling and soundscapes in Weather-Telling, a concert exploring nature, memory, and the forces that shape us.

Open Rehearsal
Get a behind-the-scenes look at the music in the making! Our open rehearsals give you a chance to hear artists prepare for that evening’s performance in a casual, come-and-go setting. Whether you stay for 10 minutes or the full hour, you’ll experience the artistry, collaboration, and nuance that go into bringing each concert to life.
All open rehearsals are free and take place at St. Stephen’s, featuring the music you’ll hear performed in the week. Stop in, take a listen, and enjoy a preview of what’s to come!

AGHS Collaborative: Voice of the Rain
A powerful afternoon of shared music-making, Voices of the Rain brings together professional festival artists and the Ashland-Greenwood High School Choir for a performance of Stephen Chatman’s Nature Songs I & II.

Song of Myself | Live Recording Party
Join us for a one-of-a-kind Live Recording Party at Café Postale as we revisit the stunning song cycle Song of Myself, commissioned by Salt Creek Song Festival in May 2024. This innovative work, inspired by Walt Whitman’s iconic poetry, combines piano, electronics, and three baritone voices to create a powerful and modern musical experience.
Gather with us in the warm, vibrant atmosphere of Café Postale to enjoy a drink, connect with fellow Salt Creekers, and be part of the magic as we record this incredible piece live. This is your chance to witness a unique performance and become part of its legacy.

Song of Myself
Salt Creek Song Festival is proud to close out the 2024 Festival Season with another commission making its world premiere, Song of Myself , by Philip Daniel, using text from the beloved Walt Whitman poem of the same name (excerpted by performers Jared Hiscock and Bill Shomos). Scored for three baritones (Brandon Bell, Jared Hiscock, and Bill Shomos) felted piano, grand piano, and electronic components (Philip Daniel), this concert is not one to be missed. This performance, like all SCSF Festival Week Concerts, is free and open to the public. A reception will immediately follow the concert, sponsored and hosted by Fariner Bakery.

Breath Alone
Returning Salt Creek Song Festival artists Alyssa Nance and Aric Vyhmeister will give the regional premiere of this new vocal work by Cecilia Livingston, who uses the text of poet and novelist Anne Michaels to tell important stories whose messages are timeless. This performance, like all SCSF Festival Week Concerts, is free and open to the public. A reception will be held immediately following the concert, sponsored and hosted by Chris and Alex Nellis-White.

Art Song After Hours
After Life in the Woods concludes, head over to Willow Point Gallery for a drink and just a little more music. Soprano Alyssa Nance and pianist Aric Vyhmeister will perform Samuel Barber’s Mélodies passagères.

Life in the Woods
Based on the writings of Henry David Thoreau, Gregory Spears’s song-cycle,Walden, explores the experience living in solitude, reflecting on nature, society, and the human condition. Returning Salt Creek Song Festival Artist Brandon Bell will perform this song cycle with pianist Philip Daniel. Dance Lab Omaha, choreographed by Katrinka Stayton, will join this intimate performance. This performance, like all SCSF Festival Week Concerts, is free and open to the public. Concert will be followed immediately by an Art Song After Hours reception hosted by and at Willow Point Gallery.

Get adventurous with this vocal chamber work by Aaron Jay Kernis, "Brilliant Sky, Infinite Sky," conducted by Clark Potter. This captivating song cycle for baritone (Jared Hiscock), piano (Eva Nikolaidou), violin (Jenna Ferdon), and percussion (Hannah Weaver) comes to life with lush melodies and evocative imagery, exploring the wonders of nature, love, and the human spirit.This performance, like all SCSF Festival Week Concerts, is free and open to the public.
